Construction accident can result in injured worker claim

Working at a construction site will sometimes mean workers are on shaky ground when it comes to safety. This literally seems to have been the case in a recent construction accident where the floor gave way and resulted in injuries. Many times in California, this can result in an injured worker claim.

The incident happened at approximately 10:08 a.m. in late January at a youth camp site. The construction crew had been working on a dormitory-like construction project at the time of the accident. Apparently, the construction workers were pouring concrete onto the third floor of the building when somehow the floor gave way. This caused the workers to fall to the floor below.

Two workers were able to stand up and walk after falling through the floor. They were both taken to a local medical facility via ambulance to receive treatment. One worker was transported by airlift to the local hospital. A fourth person had reportedly suffered an arm injury that has been described as minor.

As of now, there have not been any reports regarding possible safety violations that may have contributed to causing the accident. On the other hand, whether or not there were any violations, a person injured in a workplace accident may still be able to file an injured worker claim in California. If this does happen in this case, the employer may still be able to challenge the workers' compensation claim. This can result in benefits being reduced or a claim being denied completely in some instances.
