No contest plea submitted in workers' compensation fraud case in California

Workers' compensation fraud is a very serious matter. Employers can suffer great harm when their employees engage in such fraud. No employer should have to be subjected to such wrongful conduct.

Recently, a no contest plea was submitted in a case from California that involved allegations of workers' compensation fraud.

The case involved a 46-year-old man from Kingsburg, California. The man worked as an investigator for the Fresno County District Attorney's Office.

The man was accused of having engaged in a workers' compensation fraud scheme. Specifically, it was alleged that the man made false statements in order to receive workers' compensation benefits he was not entitled to. Allegedly, the false statements were made to get a surgical procedure covered.

The man faced a charge of grand theft in connection to the above allegations. Recently, he submitted a plea of no contest in regards to this charge. The plea reportedly was made as part of a plea deal the man made with prosecutors. According to the article on the Fresno Bee's website which reported this story, under the terms of this plea deal, the man will make a restitution payment.

Workers' compensation fraud, like that which was alleged in this case, can be extremely harmful to employers. Thus, one hopes that employees are held accountable when they engage in such fraud against their employers.

If an employer believes that one of its employees has engaged in workers' compensation fraud against it, it may wish to consider seeking advice from a workers' compensation attorney.
