Concrete pump malfunction can cause injured worker claim

Most of the time, those working in construction are generally safe from injury or harm. Nevertheless, compared to many other occupations in other industries, construction workers tend to have a higher chance of being injured in a workplace accident in California. This can easily result in an injured worker claim which could require an employer defense strategy.

One employer may be facing this problem after a recent industrial accident at a construction site at a local school. Apparently, somehow a concrete pump ended up blowing up in a construction worker's face. The pump was being utilized near the back exit of the school property where the soccer and tennis complexes are located. The workers were using the equipment to pump concrete into the tennis complex.

As the machine was pumping concrete from a truck, the pump somehow malfunctioned. The worker suffered traumatic injuries to his face and was later taken to a local medical facility to receive treatment for his injuries. Emergency responders received the call about the accident, which happened one day in late December at approximately 11:11 a.m. Fire crews arrived at the scene of the accident at approximately 11:15 a.m. and the ambulance left for the hospital at around 11:30 a.m. The local fire department classified the incident as an industrial accident.

Most employers in California are horrified to learn about a serious injury suffered by a worker. By the same token, an employer will also need to look out for his or her own financial interests in the matter as well. Preparing for the possibility of an injured worker claim is essential in an employer defense plan. This can help to minimize potential financial damage caused by an incident, and can also help in preparing for any investigation initiated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
