California Super Lawyers

Each year, Law and Politics magazine in conjunction with Los Angeles magazine singles out certain attorneys in Southern California for recognition as Southern California Super Lawyers. This select group, comprising about 5% of the total practicing attorneys in Southern California, stands at the top of their profession.

In 2005, 2006, and 2007, one or more of the partners of Sacks & Zolonz, Zachary H. Sacks and Jeffrey A. Zolonz, were named Southern California Super Lawyers for their work in the area of workers' compensation defense. Recognition by their peers reflects the partners' professionalism, integrity, and commitment to providing high quality legal services in the areas of workers' compensation defense, insurance fraud, employer discrimination, and other insurance defense matters.

A Rigorous Selection Process

Being named as a Southern California Super Lawyer is not easy. A candidate must undergo a rigorous three-stage selection and vetting process.

Law and Politics magazine begins by sending a questionnaire to a prequalified list of up to 60,000 attorneys in Southern California. They are asked to name those attorneys whom they have personally observed in action who deserve public recognition as leading lawyers in Southern California.

The research staff in charge of the process examines the balloting results for any sign of irregularity, and also verifies the credentials of the nominees. Lastly, the researchers award points to the nominees based on the attorneys' credentials and achievements.

Finally, a blue ribbon review panel awards additional points based on its analyses of the nominees' reputations and achievements. Those nominees with the highest point totals in each practice area are named Southern California Super Lawyers for that year.
