California’s requirements for workers’ compensation

  • Job displacement benefits can be paid to people who are no longer able to perform the jobs they held prior to their illnesses or injuries but who can perform other jobs. These benefits provide the training or education needed to fulfill the requirements of the new jobs.

Employers will want to ensure that ill or injured workers follow the correct processes when filing workers' compensation claims. Employees must provide a completed form DWC 1 to their employers as the first step in initiating such a claim.
